Cottonwood Series complete after 10 years

gary-slaughter Prolific author Gary Slaughter celebrated with scores of friends at Davis-Kidd Booksellers, what he calls the home bookstore of the series, in Green Hills in Nashville on Saturday, as he launched the final historical novel in the Cottonwood Series.

It’s taken ten years, but all of the seasons of Cottonwood have now been shared with the world.

Slaughter has more than 1,000 fans that follow him and his series about life on the home-front during World War II, through social-networking.

Enthusiastic readers came bearing gifts and high praise for Cottonwood Spring (Fletcher House) and the rest of the books in the series. Cyrilla Duprel met Gary when she created a book of artwork to go with his first book after she read it. The Tennessean wrote about the warm friendship. Cyrilla is well-known for her special cakes and on this occassion she surprised the author with the theme of “Cottonwood Spring” - complete with a slinky for the “spring.”

As Gary always notes when he speaks, the books are “G” rated so multi-generational families share the novels back and forth.crowd-at-davis-kidd-for-gary

What’s up next? Well,  for this award-winning wordsmith and his extraordinary wife, Joanne, who is nominated for the Ethena Award, which honors outstanding women leaders for their career successes, service to the community and encouragement of women and seeks to inspire other to achieve excellence in their professional and personal lives, this year and is a tireless advocate of  Gary’s literary persuits, They are finally thinking of taking a well-deserved hiatus from their offices.

The Cottonwood Series has been incorporated into the educational curriculumns of several school districts in the United States and has been chosen as the focus of University level courses as well.
